New dog park in Chapel Hill NC
Got dog? You will love this dog park in the new Southern Park of Chapel Hill. Conveniently located near Southern Village south of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Walk your dog on the walking paths starting from Southern Village to this huge enclosed park. Nestled in a lightly wooded area and well mulched with hardwood mulch. Separate small dog and large dog fenced areas with “entry gated areas.” Picnic shelter and table. A great way to meet your neighbors both human and canine!
Located just minutes south of downtown Chapel Hill and on the edge of Chapel Hill’s newest town park.
Our two dogs start whining and carrying on when we get on 15-501 just before reaching Southern Village! They can smell it literally a mile away! It is easy to park there too if you come by car. Just a little walk up a paved wooded path to the “staging” area where we securely enclose the pups before unleashing them. Then it is open the gate and rush into the park, sniffing all the other dogs before racing off to chase the tennis ball we fling way deep into the park. It is so deep that it only goes about half way! The well mulched dog park keeps it from getting really muddy. And after a few chases, it is time to stop for a fresh drink of water. Simply push the button and water pours out of a spigot into a nice big stainless steel watering bowl with a drain so it doesn’t get the area around it all mucky.
You can also bring your coffee and/or a picnic lunch and stay out of the sun under the picnic shelter. Benches are located around the perimeter of the fenced areas as well.
