Some of the most progressive music and theater in the state can be seen at The ArtsCenter, which sits around the bend from Chapel Hill in Carrboro. This neighboring small town is home to mill houses, pastel storefronts, and small cafes. Its former textile mill, with massive brick walls and arched windows, has been remodeled into a fascinating collection of shops and eateries.
Adjacent to the Carrboro Town Hall is the Farmer's Market. On Saturday mornings, shop for home-grown tomatoes, fresh goat's cheese, lemon pound cake, or bouquets of garden flowers. Or enjoy Weaver Street Market, a local cooperative food store, located in the heart of Carrboro. In the warmer months there is a Thursday late afternoon music scene on the grounds and on Sunday morning a Jazz Brunch.
